If you or anyone in your department has considered starting a company involving the commercialization of UNCW research, this is an excellent opportunity to come and discuss your ideas and get a brief introduction to the process. This 90-minute overview introduces UNCW faculty, researchers, and grad students on the steps necessary to take their research from the labs to commercialization. At this meeting the following topics will be included: • a brief overview of UNCW’s intellectual property polices • how to begin the commercialization process with UNCW Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) and when this is necessary • how to apply for a translational research grant from OIC for up to $15,000 to taking your research towards commercialization • resources for help to explore your business idea
